WEEK 4/4

By now you will have:

1. downloaded your fasting tracker app

2. selected your fasting method 

3. have a knowledge of fasting beverages and emergency items

4. an idea of how to deal with certain concerns which may pop up now and then during your fast

5. gained an understanding of of the flexibility of fasting as well as the importance of consistency 

6. hopefully joined some groups, found like minded people and subscribed to my website to keep the motivation going 

This week, let’s look at some advantages of intermittent fasting in comparison to other diets. When that voice in you head starts telling you to give up, to seek a new diet instead, to cut out this or that food group, to purchase slimming shakes, fat burners, detoxes, or to join a meal plan delivery service, come back to this post and read it again. 

Do not let that sabotaging voice win. Not this time! The strategies you have tried never worked before and they are not going to work now. 

So how is intermittent fasting different?

FASTING IS FREE

There is no other weight loss tool which will cost less than fasting does and there never will be. You do not need to buy any special products, powders, foods, “super foods”, tools, equipments, you do not even need to change your current diet in any way. 

If you have no money to spare but want to lose weight or improve your health you can absolutely do so with fasting. 

The only spending you will have to do as a result of fasting is to buy a whole new wardrobe when the excess weight starts to drop off. 

WORKS WITH ANY “DIET”

You do not need to follow any “diet” in order for fasting to deliver results. 

Saying so, if you are already following a diet or a specific eating plan or have some dietary restrictions, you can still introduce fasting into your lifestyle. Whether you are following a plant based diet, carnivore diet, you’re gluten intolerant, sugar free, high fat, high carb, low carb, etc you can include fasting.  

IT IS EFFECTIVE

Ask a young child who has no knowledge of dieting or biology how to lose weight and chances are they will tell you to stop eating. It’s the simplest most intuitive answer to weight loss. If you do not eat, you will lose weight, there is no question about it. You do not need a degree in biology to figure this out. So, you already know it is effective, you do not need anyone convincing you, you do not need to question your choice. 

You also know it is going to be effective the first time you try it, it’s going to work next year and the year after that, it is going to work every time you do it.  The principle of losing weight as a result of not eating is universal, it works for everyone and it doesn’t have an expiry date. It’s been working for thousands of years and it still does. 

IT’S SIMPLE

Everyone understands what fasting is. You know how to skip a meal without a manual of instructions. That’s all. You do not need to count points, count calories, weigh your food, learn how to calculate macros, you do not even need a fasting tracker app. Simply set your eating window and eat only within the set time frame, for example “I will only eat between 13.00-19.00 each day” Even if you’re not familiar with insulin and fat loss you still know how to fast. Simple of course doesn’t equal easy.

IT’S FLEXIBLE

You can eat family dinners, you can eat out, you can participate in food parties, you can enjoy take outs, Sunday roasts, etc., fasting does not need to interfere with your social life. It is totally up to you when you set your eating window; this can be morning, midday, evening, and what’s more you can change it whenever the occasion calls for it. The possibilities are endless. You can fast for 14 hours, 16 hours, 20 hours, a day or two, you can start and end your fast whenever you need to.
